ECHOES

Doctor's Travel: Volunteerism
Dr. Chris Z. Rayala

Will my work matter at all
When there are a million things left undone?

Will it make a difference if I cared
When all I do is drowned by apathy?

What good is it to heal
When it is certain that the injury will return?

Why should I bother to give of myself
When somebody else can simply take away that which I give?
Perhaps it is not so important
That I made a difference as much as I tried to.

What I do may not matter to the world,
But it mattered a lot to the one I had helped.

A drop of water may seem minute next to an ocean.
But it is everything to a tongue
that is dry with thirst....
